Muzzle Snuggle

Last night my friend Sarah and her dog Sophie came over for a play-date with Porter and Sadie. Unfortunately, Brenda is still too volatile and unpredictable to join in. I’m tired of keeping her locked in a crate when people come over, though, so I decided to start introducing her to social hour by letting her free with a muzzle and a leash on. Her fear is devastatingly sad. Even though Sarah and Sophie come over quite often, and Brenda sees them and interacts with them from behind bars, she feels very vulnerable outside of her crate.

The first thing Brenda did was run over to another bed and bury her face inside. When I took Porter outside for a pee break, though, she apparently ran straight to Sarah and snuggled up against her and then straight to Sophie and snuggled up against her. By the time I got home Brenda had found her way back to a bed and didn’t move from it until Ben got home, at which time she ran back into her crate.
