Pit Parties

I went to two parties in one night a few weeks ago and met several people at each who had recently adapted pit bull puppies. Conversations with them made me feel a mixture of jealousy, hope and worry.

Given the rough time I've had with my own adult rescues, I'm obviously envious of those who have the privilege of adopting puppies. I'm happy that there are good people out there who will take the time to nurture them and raise them properly. I just hope that they do, and not follow the advice of people like the Dog Whisperer.

One woman I spoke with said "I'm doing everything right. I mean when he gets out of hand I roll him on his back." harumph! I think I was persuasive enough to get her to stop doing that.
