Ben and I went to the theater the other night--Macbeth at Brooklyn Academy of Music. What a luxury. We got all dressed up, fed then dogs, Ben made sure Porter and Sadie went outside right before we left and I was in charge of Brenda, of course. She'd peed on the bed earlier in the day so I had stripped the sheets off the mattress and before I could stop her, she'd had staked out a spot on the naked canvas.
She wouldn't budge from it and if I reached for the leash she snarled at me. Even the robot hand didn't help. I wasn't in the mood to battle her and even if I was, I didn't have the time so I just left her be and tried not to think about what I'd come home to.
As soon as I walked in the apartment I knew what had happened. There was poop all over the bare mattress and all three dogs were as far away from that room as they could have possibly gotten. Brenda's leash had also dragged in it and subsequently dragged poop all over the apartment.
I cleaned off the poop with dish soap and a sponge and then decided to just flip the mattress over completely. The thought of sleeping on that side made me nauseous.
Now, Brenda wears a longer leash at all times so this scenario will hopefully be avoided in the future.
