Shark on Acid

When Brenda plays with toys she reminds me of a shark on acid. It’s the worst if she is on my bed and I’m teasing her with a ball or a squeaky. She starts standing on all fours, but when I show her I have something fun behind my back she jumps into a play position—her front legs stretched out in front of her body, her back legs as straight as she can get them and her teeth wildly chomping together in anticipation.

When I bring the toy closer to her head she gets really excited and jumps onto all fours again. Sometimes she turns in circles on the bed, runs to one corner and then the next or just flops down on her belly and turns over on her back for a quick belly rub.

I have to be alert at the moment the toy makes its transition from my hand to her jaws. If I’m not careful she may take a finger with her. She wouldn’t mean to, but she just gets so crazed in the moment. I don’t trust she has much self-control.
