I have two rescues that have made a huge difference in my life.
I've recently been watching Cesar Millan and one very important thing I've taken away from him is this.
Don't focus on the dog's past - that anchors them (and you) in their misery. Keep them moving forward in life, action and narrative. You may find that you have to relearn the telling of your dog's story.
Have you ever read "Pack Of Two" by Caroline Knapp? I related to her in so many ways, especially with my first dog when the strength of our bond was such a surprise to me.
