Ben can’t walk into a room that Brenda’s in without her aggressing toward him. Her outbursts are exhausting for everyone, as well as really loud. Porter has been getting very offended when Brenda does this and is getting bolder about telling her so. Sadie will occasionally join in.
If Ben calls out Brenda’s name just before entering and throwing her a steady stream of treats as he passes, she remains calm. I wish he did this exercise more often but I can’t expect him to carry pocketfuls of treats at all times. The idea behind throwing Brenda treats is that she will start associating Ben’s entry with something really good.
It can get tricky, though, because she has already figured out that getting treats is related to her barking so she’s been getting a little demanding!
