Brenda and I have been going up to the roof every morning for the last few weeks. It gives her a chance to go to the bathroom, but it also gives her a chance to run free. She loves it and has recently started to even chase a ball and occasionally bring it back to me to throw again. I take nothing for granted with her.
The space on the roof has also allowed me to teach her the command ‘come’. She runs right to me, sits perfectly facing me and waits for her treat. It took her this long—ten months—to gain the confidence and trust to learn ‘come’. We can also play hide-n-seek. I hide behind a pole or other metal structure on the roof and jump out so she can see me, after which I call her to come. It usually takes her a moment, but then she jumps into a play-bow and barrels into my outstretched arms.
