Best Friends

At one point in the not-so-distant past, Belisa and I fantasized about driving Brenda across the country and dropping her off in Utah at Best Friends, an animal sanctuary that allows its charges to live together in harmony. We were really excited about this idea and Belisa even contacted a few of her media contacts. Someone at one of the major networks was interested in following the journey. I was nervous about Brenda in a car full of strangers and video equipment but it was a mute point because after speaking with people at Best Friends, we decided it wasn’t the best place for her, because she cannot exactly safely live with other dogs or people she doesn’t know in a communal situation.

I was disappointed, but speak with Medha, one of the Best Friend’s employees often. She calls to check up on us and continues to offer suggestions and advice. Her latest is to try T Touch, a form of massage originally developed to help spooked-out horses but is now used to help a host of animals overcome a variety of issues. Apparently, Medha knows of an aggressive German Shepard that had a profound change of behavior after just one of week of T Touch. I’ll try anything at this point.
