Bladder Infection and Stained Roof

The day we decided that Ben was the lucky one to battle Brenda in the morning, she started to pee blood. It was due either to the stress of having to go outside alone with Ben or it was because her vagina hangs a few inches down from her body and she squatted into pigeon poop. Regardless, she was peeing blood and she needed help. The blood was thick and Brenda was lethargic. I didn’t want to take her to the vet, especially because we had spent that day holding the second of three sidewalk sales to raise money for Brenda’s care and wanted to the spend the money on food and treats, not antibiotics. I asked Belisa to pick up some cranberry pills. After a few meals consisting of yogurt, eight to ten cranberry pills, a few acidophilus pills and about four crushed garlic tablets, Brenda’s urine was clear—but not before she had stained our roof in two places. Because of the bladder infection, I let her drink as much water as she wanted in order to cleanse out her system. This meant I had to take her outside every hour or so. At least the flush worked, but even after a few storms, the roof still has red footprints as evidence of the incident.
